Bioinformatics Engineer
医疗健康·生物医药
Bioinformatics engineers use computational techniques and mathematical methods to process massive biological data, such as gene sequencing data, to uncover life's secrets and advance drug development.
Daily work
- 01Develop or maintain software pipelines for sequence alignment and variant detection
- 02Design and run analysis pipelines for omics data such as RNA-seq and ChIP-seq
- 03Write Python/R scripts for data cleaning, statistical modeling, and visualization
- 04Discuss experimental designs with biologists, interpret analysis results, and write reports
- 05Maintain large databases (e.g., genome annotation databases) and optimize query performance
Ability requirements
Hard skills
- Programming skills (Python, R, Shell, C++, etc.)
- Mainstream bioinformatics tools (BWA, GATK, STAR, Salmon, etc.)
- Statistics and machine learning (regression, clustering, deep learning frameworks)
- Database management (SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing)
- Version control and workflow management (Git, Nextflow, Snakemake)
Soft skills
- Logical thinking and problem decomposition
- Interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
- Patience and meticulousness in experimental design and result validation
- Continuous learning of new technologies and life science advances
- Efficient time management and multi-project handling
Best suited for
