Analog Layout Engineer
电子、通信·硬件开发
Analog layout engineers translate circuit designs into physical mask layouts, serving as a critical link between design and manufacturing, balancing performance with process constraints.
Daily work
- 01Draw analog circuit layouts using EDA tools (e.g., Virtuoso).
- 02Run DRC/LVS checks and fix layout errors.
- 03Communicate with circuit designers to optimize layout for reduced parasitics.
- 04Write layout design documentation and inspection reports.
- 05Participate in layout review meetings before tape-out.
- 06Maintain layout design libraries and standard cells.
Ability requirements
Hard skills
- Proficient in EDA layout tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor Calibre, etc.)
- Deep understanding of CMOS/BCD processes and layout design rules
- Familiar with analog circuit basics (op-amps, comparators, bandgap references, etc.)
- Master parasitic extraction and post-layout simulation methods
- Scripting skills (Skill, Tcl, Python) to improve automation
Soft skills
- Extreme attention to detail and patience for tedious layout rules
- Logical rigor to root-cause layout errors
- Cross-team communication and close collaboration with circuit designers
- Strong stress resistance to meet project deadlines
- Long-termist mindset to accumulate process and design experience
Best suited for
Ideal for those who are meticulous, patient, enjoy hands-on work, and find satisfaction in turning abstract circuits into precise geometric patterns.
Less suited for
Not suitable for those who are impatient, careless, crave fast-paced feedback, or cannot tolerate repetitive tasks.
